Spinal Cord Injury

Spinal cord injury (or SCI), along with brain injury, is one of the most severe results of an accident. It involves damage to the spinal cord that results in loss of function or mobility.

There are two types of spinal cord injury: complete and incomplete. A complete SCI involves a loss of movement and sensory function below the level of the injury. In an incomplete SCI, the victim retains partial movement and sensation in the affected area.

A spinal cord injury usually involves the swelling or severing of the spinal cord, which affects the whole body. When the swelling goes down, the patient may regain function months or years after the injury but it is rare for all functioning to be fully recovered. Treatment consists of stabilizing and preventing further damage, reducing swelling, testing (such as X-Rays, CT scans, MRI) and, eventually, starting a rehabilitation program.

If you or a family member has experienced a spinal cord injury as a result of an accident, you may be entitled to compensation for your pain and suffering. Contact us today for a free consultation about your legal rights. Take the first step, and the Tell Del team will take care of the rest.
